Notes

Downy cherry (Prunus tomentosa) is a shrub for borders, hedges, privacy screens, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 2, or down to -50°F (-46°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It grows into a dense shrub that reaches 6 to 10 feet tall and wide. White to light pink flowers open in spring and attract bees and butterflies. The blooms are fragrant, and birds visit the plant too.

Pairs well with Blue Moon honeyberry, Hoopsii Colorado spruce, and Redmond American linden.
