Notes

Downy mock orange (Philadelphus pubescens) is a shrub for borders, hedges, and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. White flowers are fragrant and draw butterflies and bees. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits. It can reach 4 to 10 feet tall and wide, so give it room.

Pairs well with Beautyberry, David garden phlox, and Fountain grass.
