Notes

Dwarf fothergilla (Fothergilla gardenii) is a shrub for specimen plantings, woodland gardens, and foundation beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and average to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. White flowers look like thimble-shaped spikes of stamens and open before the leaves. The leaves turn bright yellow to scarlet-red in fall. Deer rarely make it their first choice.

Pairs well with Amsonia, Little bluestem, and Quick Fire panicle hydrangea.
