Notes

'Mount Airy' dwarf fothergilla (Fothergilla 'Mount Airy') is a shrub for borders, specimen planting, hedges, and foundation beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil. Creamy white bottlebrush flowers open in spring and smell sweet like honey, and the leaves turn yellow, orange, and red-purple in fall. It sits low on the menu for deer. The compact shrub grows 3 to 5 feet high and wide.

Pairs well with Japanese forest grass, Blue Mouse Ears hosta, Limelight hydrangea, and Casa Blanca lily.
