Notes

Mountain witch alder (Fothergilla latifolia) is a shrub for hedges and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. White, fragrant flowers appear as thimble-like spikes after the leaves open. The dark blue-green leaves turn colorful in fall. It fits well in a woodland garden with azaleas and rhododendrons.

Pairs well with Hicksii yew, Honeyberry, Carnaval De Nice tulip, and Grape hyacinth.
