Notes

Eared lady fern (Athyrium otophorum) is a fern for borders and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to moist, loamy or clay soil. It grows 12 to 24 inches tall and wide. Rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal. It does not flower, so you grow it for its foliage.

Pairs well with Elegans hosta, Sweet woodruff, and Autumn fern.

Native range

Africa, Free State, and Lesotho.
