Notes
Erman's birch (Betula ermanii) is a tree for borders and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. Deer tend to browse other plants first. It grows about 50 to 70 feet tall and 20 to 30 feet wide, so give it room.
Pairs well with Sibirica red-barked dogwood, Winter aconite, Lenten rose, and First Knight fountain grass.
