Notes
Lenten rose (Helleborus hybridus) is an evergreen perennial for naturalized plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average moisture. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal. Its yellow flowers open in winter and spring, and they bloom along with early spring bulbs. Gold strains can have foliage that turns bright gold in fall and winter.
Pairs well with Sweet woodruff, Ostrich fern, and Lungwort.
