Notes

Evergreen violet (Viola sempervirens) is a perennial for ground cover and low maintenance planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to moist, loamy soil. Stems creep across the ground and root as they go, forming mats of leathery, heart-shaped leaves that last through winter. Yellow flowers hang on short stalks just above the leaves, and they attract butterflies. It may self-seed.

Pairs well with Lady fern, Wood sorrel, and Snake's head.
