Notes

'Exaltata' blue wild indigo (Baptisia australis 'Exaltata') is a perennial for borders, cottage gardens, meadows, and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to wet, clay soil. It blooms in spring and again in summer, and bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds visit the flowers. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal. It also tolerates drought and salt.

Pairs well with Blue star, Standing Ovation little bluestem, and Purple Coneflower coneflower.
