Notes

Golden groundsel (Packera obovata) is a perennial for borders, ground cover, and woodland gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and dry to moist, loamy, clay, or chalky soil. It spreads by runner-like stolons and colonizes quickly into an evergreen mat. Yellow flowers rise on slender stems and often open among the earliest of the year, and bees and butterflies visit them. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal.

Pairs well with Woodland phlox, Foam flower, and Sedge.
