Gopherweed (Baptisia lanceolata) is a perennial for borders, naturalized areas, and sandy sites. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to average, sandy soil. Yellow, two-lipped flowers open singly or in small clusters from early to late spring and into early summer.
