Notes

Hairy alum root (Heuchera villosa) is a perennial for borders, shade gardens, woodland gardens, and rock gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and average to moist soil. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal. Its maple-like, hairy leaves form a basal clump, and the foliage stays evergreen. Feathery spikes of tiny pink to white flowers attract bees.

Pairs well with Wintergreen, Smooth hydrangea, and Little bluestem.
