Notes

'Hesperus' tree peony (Paeonia delavayi 'Hesperus') is a shrub that grows 36 to 60 inches tall. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average moisture. Fragrant single flowers in rose-pink and yellow open in late spring and early summer. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. Arthur Percy Saunders bred it as a seedling of 'Thunderbolt'.

Pairs well with Snowberry, Pink Impression tulip, and Anglojap yew.
