Notes

'Hetzii' Japanese holly (Ilex crenata 'Hetzii') is a shrub for hedges, borders, foundation plantings, and winter interest. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It grows slowly into a dense, evergreen mound that reaches 3 to 6 feet tall and wide. White flowers open in early to late spring and attract bees. It sits low on the menu for deer.

Pairs well with Chokeberry, Karl Foerster feather reed grass, and Praying Hands hosta.
