Notes

Hollyhock (Alcea rugosa) is a perennial for borders, low maintenance gardens, and naturalized areas. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun, average moisture, and sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by. Tall yellow flowers open in early to late spring and again in early to late summer. Butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees visit the blooms.

Pairs well with Mallow, Forever Susan lily, and Red Drift rose.
