Notes

Hong Kong orchid tree (Bauhinia blakeana) is a tree for specimen, accent, and xeriscape use. It grows outdoors year-round in USDA zone 9 and warmer, down to about 20°F (-7°C). In colder areas, grow it as a houseplant or bring it indoors for winter. This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Its fragrant pink, purple, or red flowers draw butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees. It grows fast and spreads wide, so give it room.

Pairs well with Desert willow, Italian cypress, Red spider lily, and Wormwood.
