Notes

Red spider lily (Lycoris radiata) is a bulb for borders, containers, and naturalized plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. The red flowers have spidery, wavy petals and long stamens, and they open in late summer or autumn. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal. The bulbs are poisonous, so plant them with care.

Pairs well with Prairie dropseed, Japanese holly, and Anise hyssop.
