Notes

'Honka Surprise' dahlia (Dahlia 'Honka Surprise') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, containers, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 8, or down to 10°F (-12°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. The brown-red blooms are fragrant and appear in early to late summer and again in early to late autumn. Butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees visit the flowers. Q.A. van Nuland bred it, and M.J.M. Duyzer introduced it in 2008.

Pairs well with Black-eyed Susan, Bee balm, and Lemongrass.
