Notes

Hookedspur violet (Viola adunca) is a perennial for ground cover, meadow, and low maintenance plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. Pansy-like bluish-violet flowers hang at the tips of slender stalks. Deer tend to pass it by. Butterflies visit the fragrant blooms in spring and summer.

Pairs well with Siebold's hosta, Trumpet honeysuckle, and Buffalo grass.
