Notes
'Goldfinger' beardtongue (Penstemon digitalis 'Goldfinger') is a perennial for mixed beds, cottage gardens, and rock gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun. Young leaves emerge bright gold with red edging, then age to lime-green and darker green. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal. Pale lavender flowers with purple speckles open on dark red stems in summer and draw hummingbirds and bees.
Pairs well with American Gold Rush black-eyed Susan, Western sword fern, and Campfire rose.
