Notes
'Pocahontas' beardtongue (Penstemon digitalis 'Pocahontas') is a perennial for borders, pollinator gardens, rock gardens, and meadows. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It grows fast to 36 to 48 inches tall with lavender pink flowers in spring and again in summer. Butterflies, hummingbirds, bees, and birds visit the blooms, and it tolerates drought.
Pairs well with PowWow White coneflower, Indian grass, Nodding onion, and Goldsturm black-eyed Susan.
