Notes

Lady's slipper orchid (Cypripedium hotei-atsumorianum) is a perennial for shade gardens, woodland gardens, and containers. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes part sun. Magenta flowers have huge, rounded pouches and broad, striped petals. They open in early to late spring, and later in May than many other lady's slippers. Well cared for clumps can double their flowering stems every year.

Pairs well with Hosta, Spotted dead nettle, and Canada wild rye.
