Notes

Lady's slipper orchid (Cypripedium macranthos) is a perennial for borders and containers. It is hardy to USDA zone 2, or down to -50°F (-46°C). This plant likes part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Its large magenta flowers have huge, rounded pouches and broad, striped petals. It blooms in May. Well cared for clumps can double their flowering stems every year.

Pairs well with American maidenhair fern, Crested wood fern, and Spring Beauty Siberian squill.
