Notes

Spotted dead nettle (Lamium maculatum) is a perennial for ground cover, shade gardens, borders, and containers. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and dry to moist soil of most types. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by. It creeps along at a rapid pace, so give it room to spread. The gray and silver leaves brighten shady corners, and bees visit the pink, purple, or white flowers.

Pairs well with Lenten rose, Aureola Japanese forest grass, Siebold's hosta, and Fringed bleeding heart.
