Notes

Larkspur violet (Viola pedatifida) is a perennial for borders, meadows, and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Deep violet-blue flowers hang atop leafless stalks in spring and again in summer, and butterflies visit them. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal. The deeply lobed leaves look like those of larkspurs, which gives the plant its name.

Pairs well with Prairie Sun rudbeckia, False Solomon's seal, and Little Beauty tulip.
