Notes
'Lowboy' scarlet firethorn (Pyracantha coccinea 'Lowboy') is a shrub for borders, hedges, ground cover, and foundation plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist soil of most types. It is evergreen, drought tolerant, and salt tolerant, and bees and birds visit it. Deer tend to pass it by. Give it room, since it spreads 72 to 96 inches wide.
Pairs well with Western redbud, Fountain grass, and California poppy.
