Notes

Macedonia scabious (Knautia macedonica) is a perennial for borders, pollinator gardens, and containers. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to average, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. Its burgundy flowers open from early to late summer and again in early to late autumn. Butterflies and bees visit the blooms, and the plant tolerates drought. Deer rarely make it their first choice.

Pairs well with Blue star, Jerusalem sage, Brookside crane's-bill, and Feather reed grass.
