Notes

Marsh blue violet (Viola cucullata) is a perennial for borders, rain gardens, meadows, and ground cover. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and average to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Dark blue-centered flowers rise well above the leaves in spring. It grows in wet places, so it suits a damp spot in your yard. Bees, butterflies, and birds visit it.

Pairs well with Joe Pye weed, Sweet pepperbush, and Indian grass.
