Notes

'Mighty Pip' Chinese astilbe (Astilbe chinensis 'Mighty Pip') is a perennial for borders, containers, and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and average to moist soil of most types. It blooms in spring and again in summer, and butterflies and bees visit the flowers. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits. Plants reach about 35 to 47 inches tall and wide.

Pairs well with Obsidian coral bells, Siebold's hosta, and Smooth hydrangea.
