Notes
'Superba' Chinese astilbe (Astilbe chinensis 'Superba') is a perennial for borders, containers, and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and dry to moist, loamy soil. Deep lilac blooms appear in summer and attract butterflies and bees. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. It grows 24 to 48 inches tall and spreads 18 to 24 inches.
Pairs well with Cinnamon fern, Sedge, and Spicebush.
