Notes

'Monomb' Japanese barberry (Berberis thunbergii 'Monomb') is a shrub for pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It blooms in early to late spring and attracts bees and birds. Deer tend to pass it by. The dense shrub grows at a moderate pace and tolerates drought and salt.

Pairs well with Cheyenne Spirit echinacea, Indian grass, and Prairie Sun rudbeckia.
