Notes

Monterey cypress (Hesperocyparis macrocarpa) is a tree for specimen planting, hedges, and privacy screens. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, loamy or clay soil. It grows fast and stays evergreen, with soft, dark green, scale-like needles. It tolerates salt spray, so it suits coastal sites. Plant it where cool, coastal breezes reach it, because a canker can kill it.

Pairs well with Madrone, Western redbud, and Shasta daisy.
