Notes

Painted maple (Acer pictum) is a tree for specimen and accent use. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It grows fast into a rounded shape, reaching 30 to 40 feet tall and wide. Its leaves show gold, yellow, green, and orange, and they turn color again in fall. Greenish-yellow flowers open in spring and draw bees.

Pairs well with Crab apple, Jacob’s ladder, and Casa Blanca lily.
