Notes

Silver maple (Acer saccharinum) is a tree for specimen planting, shade gardens, and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and dry to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It grows fast and makes a large shade tree with silvery leaf undersides. Its branches are brittle and break easily in windstorms, so give it plenty of room away from buildings.

Pairs well with Sensitive fern, Cinnamon fern, Sedge, and Wild ginger.

Eastern North America.
