Notes

'Penhill Watermelon' dahlia (Dahlia 'Penhill Watermelon') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, containers, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 8, or down to 10°F (-12°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It blooms in early to late summer and again in early to late autumn, and butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees visit the flowers. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. B. Killingsworth introduced it in 2000.

Pairs well with Black-eyed Susan, Montbretia, and Mondo grass.
