Notes

Prairie rose (Rosa arkansana) is a shrub for meadow plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Small clusters of white to deep pink flowers grow on densely prickly stems. The buds are a deeper pink than the open flowers. Colorful fruit stays on the plant into fall and winter, and fungal problems can occur, so give it good air flow.

Pairs well with Little bluestem, Sideoats grass, Blue wild indigo, and Cup plant.
