Notes

'Purple Rooster' spotted beebalm (Monarda didyma 'Purple Rooster') is a perennial for borders, pollinator gardens, cottage gardens, and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to wet, loamy or clay soil. Fragrant purple blooms open in early to late summer and attract butterflies, hummingbirds, bees, and birds. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. The clumping plants stand about 36 to 42 inches tall.

Pairs well with Cardinal flower, Blue wild indigo, and Big bluestem.
