Notes

'Ralph Shay' crabapple (Malus 'Ralph Shay') is a tree for pollinator gardens and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. White flowers open from early to late spring and draw butterflies, bees, and birds. It grows 15 to 20 feet tall and spreads wider, so give it room. It also tolerates drought.

Pairs well with Gladiator ornamental onion, Kansas peony, and Royal fern.
