Notes
'Red' beardtongue (Penstemon 'Red') is a perennial for borders, containers, and hummingbird gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to average soil. Tubular red blooms have white striping in the throat and open from early to late summer. Hummingbirds and bees visit the flowers. Well-drained soil helps it thrive.
Pairs well with Karl Foerster feather reed grass, Fountain grass, and Carnation.
