Notes

'Royal Ruby' tartarian aster (Aster 'Royal Ruby') is a perennial for borders and containers. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. It blooms in early to late summer and again in early to late autumn, and butterflies, bees, and birds visit the flowers. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. It also tolerates drought and salt.

Pairs well with Karl Foerster feather reed grass, Late boneset, and Knotweed.
