Notes

'Rubinstern' coneflower (Echinacea purpurea 'Rubinstern') is a perennial for borders, cottage gardens, pollinator gardens, and meadows. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Carmine red to purple rays surround a bronze-brown cone from early to late summer, and butterflies, bees, and birds visit the blooms. Deer rarely make it their first choice. It tolerates drought and salt.

Pairs well with Prairie dropseed, New England aster, Prairie Sun rudbeckia, and Nodding onion.
