Notes

'Rustica Rubra' saucer magnolia (Magnolia soulangeana 'Rustica Rubra') is a tree for borders, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Its fragrant flowers are bright pink outside with a white interior. They open from early to late spring and draw bees and birds. It needs little care once settled.

Pairs well with Korean spice viburnum, Bridal wreath spiraea, Japanese forest grass, and Coral Sunset peony.
