Notes
Sea purslane (Sesuvium portulacastrum) is a perennial for containers, low maintenance gardens, and ground cover. It grows outdoors year-round in USDA zone 9 and warmer, down to about 20°F (-7°C). In colder areas, grow it as a houseplant or bring it indoors for winter. This plant likes full sun and dry to wet, sandy soil. It is evergreen and tolerates drought and salt. Its trailing stems spread wide and carry pink to purple flowers.
Pairs well with Seaside goldenrod, Indian blanket, and Carolina wolfberry.
