Notes
Carolina wolfberry (Lycium carolinianum) is a shrub for borders, hedges, and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 8, or down to 10°F (-12°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and average to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Small lavender to blue flowers are followed by fleshy red berries that birds eat. The branches are spiny, so plant it where people will not brush against it. It also tolerates salty sites.
Pairs well with Sea ox-eye, Bitter switchgrass, and Indian blanket.
