Notes

'Sioux Blue' Indian grass (Sorghastrum nutans 'Sioux Blue') is a grass for pollinator gardens, rain gardens, and naturalized areas. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to moist, clay soil. Light brown flowers with yellow stamens appear from early to late autumn and draw butterflies, bees, and birds. It sits low on the menu for deer. The clumps reach 36 to 60 inches tall and tolerate drought.

Pairs well with New England aster, Swamp milkweed, and Royal fern.
