Notes
Smooth purple coneflower (Echinacea laevigata) is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, loamy or clay soil. Deer tend to pass it by. Pink and purple blooms appear in early to late summer and bring butterflies, bees, and birds. It grows fast and tolerates drought, so it needs little care.
Pairs well with Indian grass, Nodding onion, and New Jersey tea.
