Notes
Snow banana (Ensete glaucum) is a perennial for containers, tropical-style borders, and bold focal points. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes full or part sun. Its paddle-shaped leaves have a bluish cast that also colors the thick trunk. Green bracts bloom in layers from early to late summer and look like an elephant's trunk. In colder areas, bring it indoors for winter.
Pairs well with Little Gem southern magnolia, Society garlic, and Rose of sharon.
