Notes
'Splendens' scarlet bottlebrush (Melaleuca citrina 'Splendens') is a shrub for borders, containers, and xeriscape gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 8, or down to 10°F (-12°C). This plant likes full sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. It is evergreen, fragrant, and drought tolerant, so it needs little care. Butterflies, hummingbirds, and birds visit the blooms.
Pairs well with Lion's tail, Olive, Pineapple sage, and Mondo grass.
