Notes

Strawberry bush (Euonymus americanus) is a shrub for woodland gardens, shade gardens, naturalized areas, and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Pale green flowers with purple stamens open on an airy, deciduous shrub. The leaves turn dark red in fall, when bright red fruits open to show orange seeds. It fruits best in light shade, and Euonymus scale can bother it.

Pairs well with Wild ginger, Oakleaf hydrangea, Sedge, and Japanese forest grass.
